A Heartbreaker at Home

The Cincinnati Bearcats had their first home game this year on Friday the 29th against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Bearcats have not registered a win against the Buckeyes in what is now 3 years and counting as they came out on the wrong end of a 7-4 defeat.

The first quarter was a struggle for the Bearcats who were unable to net a goal and were being out played and out hustled. Things picked up in the second quarter as midfielders Ray Harper and Brandon Mowery were able to provide the athleticism that the Buckeyes found hard to match up with. When the whistle blew at halftime the score was4-2 in the Buckeyes favor.

The third quarter witnessed a surge of energy from the Bearcats as they attempted to pull even with the Bucks but were unable to. The physical play that always accompanies this rivalry game was an unavoidable presence in the second half that witnessed big hits from both teams. The Bearcat goals were scored by Ray Harper, Phil Cowles, Zack Fehr, and Bobby Nagle. Cincinnati gave a valiant effort and never gave up for a second during this hard fought battle.

With the loss the Buckeyes streak over the Bearcats continues and you can bet that every player on the Cincinnati team is hoping that they might get a chance to see the Buckeyes again come tournament time.
